Armed robbery under investigation in Brighton

Brighton police continued to investigate an  Aug. 28 armed robbery.

It happened around 7:20 p.m. near Bromley Lane and Fulton Avenue. According to a department tweet, the suspect, a young male asked a motorist for a cigarette. The victim was stopped for a traffic light.

"The suspect produced a handgun, demanding the victim get out of his car," the tweet said. "The victim ignored the suspect, and the male suspect fired a round into the air."

No one was hit or injured, police said. The victim got out of his car, The suspect -- plus  another man and woman -- got into the victim's car and drove westbound on Bromley Lane.

Police are looking for two males and a female, either white or Hispanic, all in their late teens or early 20s. The three were on bicycles before the robbery, The tweet said officers recovered the victim's car, a 2015 Nissan Altima, in Denver. It was not occupied.
