Lonny McNair, the suspect in an August machete attack in Brighton that left a woman dead, is due back in court for a competency hearing at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28.

McNair faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 51-year-old Bonnie Skinner.

The incident happened on Cherry Circle. A warrantless arrest affidavit said McNair was visiting from out of town at the time. The warrant said methamphetamine was involved but, at the time, no motive was available.
