Junction Food & Drink
A new food hall has been announced near Interstate 25 and Colorado Boulevard. The building is set to be 12,000 square feet and will open in the spring.
Junction will be located at 2000 S. Colorado Blvd. It will have 10 restaurant stalls inside. So far, two have been announced: Shawarma Shack and Grind and Grill Burgers.
According to the food hall’s website, there will also be a coffee shop and a 40-foot bar located inside Junction. For more information on the project, go to http://www.junctionfoodanddrink.com.
Sukiya Ramen, a restaurant based in Greenwood Village, is opening a second location in the former Fat Jack’s Supersubs space on Broadway.
The Greenwood Village location serves ramen, poke and donburi bowls, which are made of meat served over rice. The Baker neighborhood restaurant is located at 450 Broadway. The Sukiya website lists the location as coming soon, but does not have an opening date.
Fat Jack’s closed all three of its locations late last year. After the restaurant closed, signs were posted on the Baker neighborhood door stating that Fat Jack’s owners owed $2,300 in taxes for that location.
The home fragrance store opened its first brick and mortar location in Cherry Creek last month. The store is located at 2940 E. Sixth Ave.
“Rosy Rings is beyond excited to open its first store front location in beautiful Cherry Creek,” said Rosy Rings CEO and founder Shannon Cumberland in a news release. “We hope this will be the first of many stores and we look forward to serving the locals and visitors of the city.”
Products at Rosy Rings are handmade with botanical ingredients. In addition to the retail portion of the store, Rosy Rings will also offer craft classes such as candle and wreath making.
Bruno’s Italian Bistro
Bruno’s Italian Bistro is coming back on the scene after closing on South Monaco Parkway last year. This iteration of the restaurant will open at 560 S. Broadway.
The restaurant was open for 20 years at its South Monaco location. Bruno’s will be replacing Mario’s Ocean Club, which closed over the summer.
The Mediterranean-inspired vegan restaurant opened at 1165 S. Broadway in late September. The restaurant offers a cafe menu from opening until 2 p.m. The restaurant then switches to a dinner menu at 5. Somebody People also offers a special chef’s selection with a set menu for $35 and $25 on Sundays.
The restaurant has a zero waste initiative, and does not have disposable packaging for leftovers. Somebody People allows customers to bring in their own containers or it sells metal options.
Goodheart Animal Health Center
The new veterinary office is set to open at 389 S. Broadway. Goodheart Animal Health Center is in a newly renovated 90-year-old building. The renovations include a glass wall that lets owners view their pets while they are being treated.
“This new space will improve transparency — literally and figuratively,” said Mark Hafen, an architect who designs animal health spaces.
Dr. Beth Spencer will lead the Goodheart team.
Marczyk Fine Foods
After the deal for Tony’s Market to open off of Hampden Avenue fell through, Marczyk Fine Foods is set to lease the space. It will open in late 2020 in the former Safeway space at the Happy Canyon Shopping Center.
It will be a third location for the market, with the other two located off of East 17th Avenue and Colfax Avenue, respectively. Unlike the other two, the third will not have commercial kitchen. Happy Canyon is located at 4960 E. Hampden Ave.
Tony’s Market posted on its website that it would not be opening at the Hampden location due to contract issues.
“At this time, Tony’s will not be opening a new location in the Cherry Hills shopping center, though we remain excited for future projects,” the update said.
Close Quarters coffee shop will be replacing the White Whale Room, a coffee shop and bar that closed earlier this year.
Like the White Whale, Close Quarters will offer beer on tap in addition to its coffee menu. The coffee shop is located at 415 Cherokee St.
The gym moved into a spot formerly held by Hapa Sushi in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood. It is located at 2780 E. Second Ave. Orangetheory is a Florida-based gym chain with franchise locations across the United States.
Hapa Sushi moved over the summer to a new location in Cherry Creek just two blocks east.
The Tended Thicket
The 45-year-old European-style boutique and gift shop if set to close, according to its website.
“For the last 45 years, it has been a pleasure to have you as friends and neighbors,” The Tended Thicket site says. “Sadly, we have lost our lease and this holiday season will be our last.”
The shop is located at 1034 Gaylord St. in the Washington Park neighborhood. The store is having a closing sale starting Nov. 1.
The gym chain closed its Washington Park location last month, less than a year after closing down a location in Englewood. The gym was located at 66 S. Logan St. and first opened in October 2017.
Blue Pebble Handcrafted Food and Drinks
After five months in business, Pistol Whip, a new American restaurant on Santa Fe Drive, has switched over to Blue Pebble Handcrafted Food and Drinks.
Blue Pebble is located at 698 Santa Fe Drive. Pistol Whip was first opened earlier this year by a couple who owns the tattoo shop next store. The Denver Post reported in September that the couple were looking to sell the space. It was sold to Rick Carney, a restaurateur with locations in Denver and Durango.
Healey Insurance Group
The Healey Insurance Group moved from 494 S. Vine St. to 1113 S. Pearl St. last month.
Charcoal Bistro recently celebrated three years on South Gaylord. The restaurant is located at 1028 S. Gaylord St.
Bang Salon in Washington Park recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. The business held an open house at the end of September for the occasion. Bang Salon is located at 1207 E. Alameda Ave.
