In honor of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, the
Denver Philharmonic Orchestra is hosting its Beethoven Celebration on May 25 and 26 as its season finale.
The concert on each night will begin at 7:30 p.m. — doors open at 6:15 p.m. — and will take place on the Antonia Brico Stage at Central Presbyterian Church, 1660 Sherman St. in Denver’s Uptown neighborhood.
The Beethoven Celebration was originally planned to take place in May 2020 — which would’ve been the actual year of Beethoven’s 250th birthday — but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Later this summer, the performance will be staged alongside the chorus of Denver Philharmonic Orchestra’s transatlantic sister orchestra, the Bavarian Philharmonic, in Munich, Germany.
Both nights in Denver will feature the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra with the orchestra’s music director, Lawrence Golan, as conductor. Special guest artists include the Voices West chorus, six vocal soloists, pianist Andrew Cooperstock and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra.
Tickets cost $27 for adults, $19 for seniors and $12 for students. Children age 12 and younger are free. Wine and beer will be available for purchase at the concert.
