Denver is asking residents to apply for 11 spots on a commission for healthy food in schools. The commission was included in the Healthy Food For Denver Kids, or Ordinance 302, which implemented a .08 percent sales tax raise for the city and county of Denver — or 8 cents per $100 spent. The ordiance passed on the ballot last November.

Applicants must be a member of the Denver community.

Healthy Food for Denver kids will sunset after 10 years. It will raise $11.5 million annually for healthy food programming and education services for schools. The program will focus on low-income and at-risk youth.
