PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
Oceans of Possibilities, our 2022 Summer Reading program, was a huge success! We’d like to thank the Clear Creek County learners and readers who shared stories, crafts, and a fabulous field trip to the Downtown Aquarium with us! You put the treasure in Clear Creek County.
At the beginning of June, CCCLD challenged our young Summer Readers at both library branches to read toward a common goal. For every 20 minutes they read, Cap’n Honeybun would put a gold coin into their home library’s treasure jar. If the jar was full by the end of Summer Reading, that library would adopt a whale! We are delighted to announce that the Summer Readers at BOTH libraries exceeded the goal. (Young Summer Readers read a combined 81,820 minutes!) CONGRATULATIONS! Stay tuned for more information about the Library District’s whale adoptions.
HUGE THANKS to the generous donors who made Summer Reading possible:
Albert Frei & Sons, Beth Luther, Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District, Clear Creek Supply, Clear Creek Radio, Clear Creek Veterinary Clinic, Columbine Garden Club, End of the Line, Friends of the Georgetown Library, Friends of the Idaho Springs Public Library, Indian Hot Springs, Loveland Ski Area, Main Street Restaurant, Margie’s Place, Kris Miller, Mayor Parker, Mountain Metro Association of Realtors, Social Ethics, Tommyknockers, The Vintage Moose
In-person storytimes at our library branches will resume in September! In the meantime, please enjoy …

AUGUST STAFF BOOK PICK

RECOMMENDATION: “Backwater Bay” by Steven Becker (Kurt Hunter Mysteries Book One)
KATE SAYS: I enjoy mystery series with the potential for character development. This one happens to be set in my old neighborhood of Florida. It also has another must for me: a little bit of sarcastic humor. I think people who like Randy Wayne White will enjoy this series.
