Cherry Creek North Films On Fillmore Fillmore St. Plaza, between 1st and 2nd Avenues
The Cherry Creek North retail district somehow continues to draw legions of shoppers and sightseers through the good economic times and the not-so-great. Hundreds of shops, galleries and restaurants line the streets from 1st to 3rd Ave., between University Blvd./Josephine St. and Steele St.
Fillmore Plaza, between 1st and 2nd Avenues, is the retail district’s one remaining greenspace, and will once again be home to the Films on Fillmore family-friendly free movie series.
With more construction coming to the Plaza this summer, a reduced slate of only two films will have to sate your Cherry Creek tastes this summer.

City Park Jazz The Ferrill Lake Pavilion
Some things do get better with age, and the City Park Jazz summer series seems to be one of them. More than two decades back, in 1986, a small group of neighbors thought it would be great to bring the community together for an evening of family, friends, music and community fellowship.
The 2009 schedule is a varied lot, including an eclectic mix of straightahead jazz, swing, salsa and blues. All shows are held at the City Park Bandstand, 6-8p.m., and concert-goers are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic (some food is available for purchase on-site), and to take time to explore Denver’s namesake greenspace. While non-motorized transport takes pressure off the surrounding neighborhoods (the park is closed to vehicles on Sundays, and BikeDenver provides safe storage during concerts), the Museum of Nature & Science garage and parking lots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Denver Concert Band, Summer Parks Series
Back in 1961, the 20 amateur musicians who began rehearsing at Denver Christian High School as the South Denver Community Band wanted only to share their love of music. They never expected to become a cherished Denver music tradition.
The troupe adopted the “Denver Concert Band” name in 1968; after 47 years the Band now numbers some 80 volunteer musicians who devote their time and talents to play a mix of marches, familiar songs, patriotic tunes, movie/show themes, and old favorites, for the enjoyment of music lovers throughout the area. So mark your calendar now, grab your friends, the family, some chairs and a blanket, and celebrate a return to Mayberry.
Following is a list of relatively close-in performances. Visit www.denverconcertband.org for a full listing, or call 303-836-8742.
