One Painting at a Time Virtual Talk: Artist Jennifer Davey

Posted by sandersen@clyffordstillmuseum.org

Clyfford Still once said, “People should look at the work itself and determine its meaning to them.” Discover personal interpretations of Still’s art, spend time with a single painting and go beyond your first impression. Join the Clyfford Still Museum for a free, virtual One Painting at a Time talk with Jennifer Davey, a Loveland-based contemporary abstract painter inspired by the work of Clyfford Still. She will talk about Clyfford Still’s PH-764, 1970.

Register in advance to join us online or over the phone at 1 p.m. MDT on June 2, 2020. Register for the Zoom meeting here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMkcO-trzktGdDgbBfocgShJgcisbN44Hnr. Live captioning will be provided. If you do not have access to Zoom, please join us for a livestream of the workshop on the Museum’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/clyffordstillmuseum.

Jennifer Davey is a contemporary abstract painter. An avid fan of Clyfford Still, she has been involved with the Museum since opening day. Her work is deeply impacted by Still’s trailblazing path to abstraction. Now more than ever, she sees the importance of abstract painting to point us inward to find inner strength, resilience, and humanity. Her studio is at Artworks Center for Contemporary Art, in Loveland, CO. Jennifer Davey’s work is held in multiple private and public collections and has been exhibited both regionally and nationally. In 2018, she was accepted into the 3-year painting mentorship program at Anderson Ranch, studying with contemporary artist Enrique Martinez Celaya. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Colorado State University in Sculpture.
