Pure Green opens its first two Colorado locations in Denver

A smoothie bar franchise has opened its first two Colorado locations in Denver this year.

Pure Green opened its first Denver location in April at 681 E. Louisiana Ave. in Platt Park, and its Cherry Creek location, 140 Clayton Lane, in June. Both locations are owned by husband-and-wife team Carolyn Bigda and Andrew Donaldson, who reside in Washington Park.

Pure Green offers cold-pressed juices, smoothies and acai bowls. Its mission “is to build healthier communities by connecting people with superfoods,” Donaldson said. A longer-term goal, he added, is to open additional Pure Green locations throughout the Denver-metro area to broaden community access to nutritional benefits and introduce more people to superfoods they may not be familiar with. For example, spirulina, which is a blue-green algae rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants.

“Some people consider it the superfood of superfoods,” Bigda said.

Pure Green got its start in 2014 in New York and has since expanded to nine U.S. cities, with its two Denver locations being the only two west of the franchise’s Wisconsin location.
